Researchers have identified an unexpected connection between the accumulation of proteins associated with Alzheimer's disease, irregular neural oscillations during deep rest, and the deterioration of cognitive recall. According to the recent findings, subtle alterations in nocturnal memory consolidation could drive age-related cognitive decline well in advance of clinical Alzheimer's manifestations.
Investigators observed that these isolated neurological rhythms disrupt the brain's ability to store information properly overnight. Additional information is expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
