Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has directed officials to discard existing proposals for addressing the crisis at Thames Water, requesting far more drastic alternatives for the troubled utility provider.

Proposals being pressed upon leadership include passing emergency legislation, bringing the organization under public oversight through the legal system, or revoking the corporate operating license entirely. Additional information is expected to emerge as the situation continues to unfold.
