Committed supporters of Hugo Chávez in Venezuela are struggling to reconcile their political loyalties with interim leader Delcy Rodríguez’s administration moving closer to Donald Trump. The change has unsettled adherents of the leftist movement Chávez built.
Among the movement’s longtime advocates is television presenter Mario Silva, who championed Chávez’s Bolivarian revolution for over 20 years through his publicly financed programme, The Razorblade. Silva regularly appeared with an image of Chávez in the background and had the former leader’s signature tattooed on his left wrist. More details are expected as the story develops.
