The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency has initiated an interplanetary expedition aimed at collecting geological samples from Phobos, one of the two natural satellites orbiting Mars. The overarching goal of the Martian Moons Exploration initiative is to successfully transport this extraterrestrial material back to Earth for comprehensive scientific analysis.
Mission planners anticipate that the spacecraft will reach the Martian system and culminate its journey in 2029. During that critical phase, the probe is scheduled to execute up to two distinct surface landings on the Martian moon to gather the targeted specimens. Additional updates regarding the progress of the flight are expected to emerge as the undertaking advances.
