Energy secretary appears to U-turn on opposition to tougher migration rules

Miatta Fahnbulleh says reference to ‘awkward’ interview was meant to be lighthearted and self-deprecating The energy secretary has been forced to clarify she backs Shabana Mahmood’s migration policy, after earlier joking that she had not been able to “lie” about supporting a key element of the changes. Miatta Fahnbulleh made the original remarks to a journalists’ event in Westminster, referring to an “awkward” Sky News interview in which she repeatedly refused to say she was in favour of plans to make foreign workers wait 15 years to get permanent residency. WoW: Forever Is Getting A New Server Option By Popular Demand

World of Warcraft: Forever players are getting a fourth server "ruleset" option for launch: role-playing-player vs. player, or RP-PvP for short. Blizzard announced the news on social media , stating the server would be open for name reservations starting on October 27. It joins three other rulesets for players to choose from, with options for PvE, PvP, and roleplaying. Yet another server ruleset, Hardcore (aka permadeath), is set to be added before Spring 2027. The addition of a RP-PvP server is good news for the game's community, who have been vocal about wanting to see it added as an option. RP-PvP servers have been included in past versions of WoW Classic and WoW. https://twitter.com/Warcraft/status/2113291795576537230?s=20 Having another PvP server option has taken on new importance given Blizzard's server approach for Forever. We will make the net-zero transition work for Britain – approving the Jackdaw gasfield is part of the plan | Andy Burnham

This has been the subject of fierce debate for many years, with strong views on both sides. I want to explain what the decision means and how it fits with Britain’s climate commitments. At a time of acute global instability, it makes sense to responsibly use our resources here at home. Gas from this field will begin heating our homes and powering our businesses this winter. In the longer term, it will significantly strengthen our energy security by increasing domestic gas production by about 6% and support the UK’s energy s

World of Warcraft: Forever Breathes New Life Into an Iconic Classic

World of Warcraft first launched more than 20 years ago, becoming the king of the MMORPG genre and establishing Azeroth as one of the most iconic worlds in gaming. Now, Blizzard Entertainment is reimagining that world with World of Warcraft: Forever, which launches on November 4 and builds on what made the original great while adding a ton of new content. The feel of the OG game has been carried over to WoW: Forever, with the original character models and spell animations still intact. The level 60 cap is also back, as is the slower leveling experience that made each level up feel like an accomplishment. But the details have been enhanced, with improved core systems, items, UI, and world graphics. The headliner additions are new zones, a new playable race, and a bunch of new quests. We’re not going to ruin the feeling of discovery by going into too much detail about the new locations, bu

Send your questions by email now to conversations@theguardian.com , or join the discussion on Friday After weeks of protests and a weekend of riots in which a town hall was set ablaze, 2,000-plus shops were looted, 2,300 people were arrested and 1,000 police injured, the repercussions for France – for its society and its economy – continue. Allegations of police brutality surfaced, and the violent protests unnerved investors, resulting in a debt sell-off , with borrowing costs rising higher than for Greece.
