Why Wings is in the news: Wo Long 2 gets a date and demo

Updated

“Wings” is in the news because Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember has received a release date and a playable demo, alongside coverage of its combat and Team Ninja’s approach to the sequel. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced the game ahead of Tokyo Game Show. It is scheduled to launch worldwide on March 4, 2027, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A sizeable demo is available now, giving players a chance to try it before release.

The attention is also about how the sequel builds on the original Wo Long, a dark, Three Kingdoms-inspired action role-playing game. Eurogamer describes the first game as fast-paced and demanding, highlighting its central feature: players could deflect almost every attack. Its new coverage presents Wings of Ember as drawing together lessons Team Ninja has learned from Nioh, Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Together, the launch announcement, demo and gameplay coverage explain the current focus on the title.
