Resident Evil Requiem emerged as one of 2026's first big hits when it launched earlier this year, quickly setting new records for Capcom's survival-horror-action series. In the US, it has been the year's best-selling game, but it was always going to face some stiff competition toward the end of 2026. NBA 2K27 has usurped Resident Evil Requiem's position, having made short work of Capcom's best-seller. "Eight of the top ten best-selling games of September were new releases," Circana's Mat Piscatella wrote. "However, it was NBA 2K27 that ranked second in the month as it surpassed Resident Evil: Requiem to become the best-selling game of 2026 year-to-date.
